Inchelium Red – Mild & Long Storage

Description

Inchelium Red won a garlic taste test at Rodale Institute, and it has been a kitchen favorite ever since. This artichoke softneck delivers mild, sweet, complex flavor without any of the sharpness that turns some people off garlic. Large bulbs, exceptional storage, and a flavor profile that works in nearly everything.

Flavor

Mild, sweet, and surprisingly layered. Inchelium Red has depth without any harsh heat or sharp bite. It is the garlic for people who want to use it in everything and want a supply that lasts all year. The flavor holds up well even after months in storage.

In the Kitchen

A genuine everyday workhorse. Use it raw in dressings, dips, and salsas without worrying about overpowering anyone. Roast it whole for a sweet, mellow paste. Stir it into pasta, soups, or grain bowls. Mild enough for dishes where you want garlic presence without garlic dominance, and a reliable choice when cooking for kids or mixed palates.

Growing

Inchelium Red is a softneck artichoke variety that produces no scape and needs no pruning. It is more adaptable to a wider range of climates than hardneck types and does well in warmer regions (zones 7 to 9) as well as the Pacific Northwest. Plant October to November, harvest June to July.

Storage

Exceptional storage life of 6 to 12 months in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space. The flexible softneck stem also makes it ideal for traditional garlic braiding, a practical and attractive way to keep your harvest accessible all year.

How We Grow

White rot testing is something we take seriously, and every batch of seed stock we ship has been inspected. We also grow with certified organic inputs, use no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, and manage pests with nematodes and beneficial insects. Our farm is ODA-licensed and subject to state inspection. Grown in Coburg, Oregon's Willamette Valley.

Ships nationwide in September for fall planting. Free shipping on orders $60+.
